What Is Online Test.
1-Online E-Testing Introduced for the selection of officers in defence forces. Intelligence test and academic tests are administered through e-testing according to the modern system of selection. the computer literate candidates would have slight edge over the candidates who don't have any exposure to computer.
Procedure Of E-Testing
2-  When the candidates report to the selection centers for the tests, they will find a computer ready for e-testing. All the instructions will be displayed on the computer screen along with some examples. The instructions are as Follows.
  • it's an easy and short test to find out how quickly and accurately you can answer of an series of simple questions in a specific time limit.
  • All questions have 4 or 5 options as, A B, C, D, & E. You are required to click on the most appropriate answers.
  • It is necessary to pass every subject in the academic test.
  • You will be given a separate blank  sheet for your rough work. You will submit the same at the end of test to the invigilator.
  • Method to correct your option:- If you want to correct your answer which you think is the right option, click it which would remove the previous option.

3- After Instructions, some examples are displayed on the screen to make you clear about the nature of the tests, so try to understand the example. After then actual test would be administered.

Basic Facilities At ISSB,

Medical Facilities

The government of Pakistan will not be responsible to pay any compensation for any injuries during the tests, Every possible medical assistance will, however provided free of charge. Seriously ill or injured candidates are treated at military hospitals.
Recreational Facilities
TC, News Paper, and facilities for indoor games, like Badminton and Table Tennis are available to the candidates.

Traveling Allowance

Traveling allowance will be paid to you before departure from ISSB this is equal to the fair between place of your residence and ISSB. For this purpose your place of residence will considered the one, which have been mentioned in your application. For journey performed by road the allowance will be calculated on basis of bus fare. If the road journey is shorter than the rail journey the allowance will be paid on the basis of the bus fare. In case you are serving in the armed forces you should obtain a railway warrant from your unit, as you are not entitled to traveling allowance. The candidate is allowed to change the residential address after written once on TA form By Him.

Miscelleneous



  • Any attempt by you or any one on your behalf in the shape of "Shifarish", use unfaire mean in selection board's tests or non complaince of board instruction will debar you for consideration for commission.
  • You are advised not to approach ISSB directly, for any favor regarding your selection before or during your test. Any violation of this may result in your withdrawl.
  • Candidates are not allowed to leave ISSB premises during their stay.
  • Every effort is made to ensure the safety of your belongings. However ISSB Will not be responsible for any losses.
  • Mobile phones may be brought along however, these will be collected on your arrival at reception as mobile phones are not allowed in the premises of ISSB. The same will be returned to you before your departure.
  • You will be photographed on your arrival. It's expenses plus various other expenses of Rs50/-Per Head an extra amount of Rs10/- will be charged to recalled cndidates.
  • Candidates will bring their own utilities items like towel. and essential toiletries.
  • You should bring your own writing material (Blue Ball Point/Ink)
  • All requires items are also available at ISSB Canteen on payment.

General Information About ISSB

Boarding And Lodging

You will be provided free messing and lodging at the ISSB. Therefore you need not to bring anyu bedding. However you can have your cloths washed and pressed on payment barbers services are also available. On arrival day you will report at given time after having your lunch.
It has been observed that while coming to the ISSB Many candidates don't take precautionary measures regarding their food and consume eatable from unhygienic places, this carelessness make them sick and result into various stomach problems which effects their performance at ISSB. You are advised to be more careful regarding your food while traveling to ISSB and refrain eating from low standard resources.

What To Bring With You

You are advised to bring your clothing according to prevalent weather.
Male Candidates:

  • Short White = 1 Pair,
  • Canvas Shoes/Joggers = 1 Pair.
  • Socks White = 1 Pair.
  • Vest Or Sports Shirt White = 1 Pair.
  • Tracks Suit/Pull-over Or Jersey (In Winter) = 1 Pair.

Female Candidates

  • Track Suite = 1 Pair.

Specific To Female Candidates

  • You may wear any respectable dress according to norms of our society. Also bring along set of hair band/safety pins.

  • No Jewelry Is To Be Worn During Obstacles/Tasks.
  • For Outdoor Task You Will Be Required To Wear Track Suit.

Documents Required

You are required to bring along the following Original Documents.
  • Original metric certificate issued by board. Only result card/mark sheet will not be accepted.
  • Detailed mark sheet or Result card of mertic.
  • Those candidates who have not been issued with metric certificate by their concerned board should furnish a certificate in this regard signed only by the secretay board. Any such certificate issed by school/college will not be accepted.
  • The candidate who appears with a "Duplicate" or "Revise" metric certificate or if they have amendments in their names or date of births should provide certificate explaining the circumstances under which they were issued With "Duplicate" or "Revised" Amended certificate, signed only by secretary board.
  • The Original certificate and mark sheet/result card of intermediate (FA/FSC, DAE/D.COM/DBA/ICS)  is mandatory.
  • Appearing candidates who completed their FA/FSC part-I will bring original part-i mark sheet along with surety/hope certificate of college.
  •  In case of"O" Or "A" level equivalence certificate and birth certificate are compulsory.
  • Photo copy of any certificate will not be acceptable.
  • Those Candidates who have applied for the courses demanding qualification higher then intermediate are also require to bring their superior degree/certificates as mentioned in the concerned course advertisement.
  • Domicile is must for aal candidates remote areas, who are eligible to apply on 45% marks in FA/FSC.
  •  No plastic coating is allowed on degrees/certificates except those which are already coated and can't be removed.
  • In case of non possession of above mentioned documents you will not allowed to appear in the test and will be reverted back without paying traveling allowance.
  • Before your arrival, you may contact GSO-2 number mentioned in end of GSO-2 (ISelection) ISSB Kohat to Clarify any doubt about educational certificates.

FAQs About ISSB

Q.1 Can I Appear in ISSB test for two services at the same session..?

Ans: No. You can appear only once in a session.

Q.2  Is there any difference in assessment system for three services..??

Ans: No. The Assessment system for all services are the same.

Q.3 Does coaching have any effect in doing well in ISSB..??

Ans: We discourage candidates to undergo coaching for the reasons that it hinders the spontaneity of an individual. The candidates who undergo coaching present a photo type behavior that hides his/her originality. At time coached candidates is prone to become single tracked.

Q.4 What is the easy way to get selected.?

Ans: You should be free and spontaneous. Don't be too assertive that you will have to get your selection. This may create unusual tension in you.

Q.5 Will it help. if i get a recommendation from a renowned personality..?


Ans: No. Selection is made entirely basing on your performance is ISSB. Remember the road remarks on your call-up letter. "You are advised here with beforehand that no one should approach directly or indirectly to ISSB physically or through any body for your recommendation or during your test. Any violation to this would be penalized by your withdrawl.

Q.6 What should i do? If i fail to receive my call-up Notice..?

Ans: Generally the website is updated once the call-up letters of respective board are sent by postal service. You should periodically check our website to get early information about your call-up date from search box. If  you have not received the call-up letter but your roll number exist there, you can directly come to the ISSB For Solution. But if you don't find your name in the list, you may email us or contact us over telephone for further information.

Q.7 Can i come with my parents.? Can they wait outside.?

Ans: Generally they are not required however, they may come 1st day and can wait up the result of screening test. They may come on final day again to receive you.

Q.8 Being a female candidate, do i get some concessions.?

Ans: There is not difference in selection standers. But there are some variations in field events In physical activities.

Q.9 What happens if i become sick or injured.?

Ans: You will provided with full time medical cover. If required candidates will be treated at CMH.

Q,10 How many candidates do you select out of a group/batch.?

Ans: No define number is laid down in regard to selection of candidates of a batch or group. If all of you in a group or batch come up with required standers , all of you will be selected.

Q.11 During the test if i tell you truth you may not like it, on the other hand if i try to impress you by made up comments you may think otherwise. How should i got about it..?

Ans: You should frankly tell the truth and nothing but the truth. This will definitely help you. You can impress by your natural performance and don't try by artificial efforts. You should not hide any information by made up response.

Issb is looking for alert and motivated candidates who have the potential to complete the long, arduous and extensive training which fasces all newly commissioned officers in the service. The selection board is looking for many things, such as clear thinking, the ability to remain calm under stress and strain team skills and willingness to participate. It does not want you to display rashness or aggression, neither does it want you to be dull or behavior. Certain private institutes and coaching centers establish in the country train the candidates for passing ISSB tests. You are advised not to join  these for training and guidance. The training imparted in these canters is too restricted and bring rigidity in thought process. It mars the original personality of the candidate who are caught in the dilemma when confronted with a new situation.

Appearance

You can tell a lot from a persons appearance. Show what a sense of personal pride you have got.

Self Confidence

Self confidence and maturity are largely and product of experience.. You can strengthen these qualities by participating in group activities, taking responsibility and exercising independence.

Expression

ISSB looks for people with good expressions may it be Urdu Or English, clear direction, a good vocabulary and sense of grammar. Try to develop these by joining in debates and group discussions.

Academic Ability

Good academic results mean that you will be good at absorbing the training of advanced and sophisticated equipment. Make your English And Mathematics sound.

Selection System

1. Selection Techniques

Selection technique followed by ISSB is three dimensional \. All the candidate appearing before the ISSB are to take three different types of tests. I.e Psych Test,GTO Test and interview. These test are administered by psychologist Officers, Group Testing Officers and deputy president, who are specialist in their respective fields. There exists a tight compartmentation of the dimensions who arrive at their conclusions independently. The board conference is chaired by the Deputy President. Group Testing Officer and Psychologist Officer act as members. In the conference a joint decision is taken about each candidate after detailed and careful deliberations.

2. Analysis Of Candidates

ISSB follows above said three dimensional selection process. The psychologist dimension uncovers the unconscious of the candidate through carefully designed tests. The GTO dimension observes the candidates, behaviour in a group through situational tests while the deputy president  dimension analysis the candidate intellect, emotional pattern and social behaviour through interview.
i)Selection of candidates: In the selection process each of the three selectors arrives at the independent and isolated conclusion regarding candidates potentials. During the selection process each member of the board enjoys equal weightage as an expert of his field, irrespective of his rank and seniority.
ii)This is how the final picture of a candidate emerges reflecting three dimensions of his personality. The board then decides about the final result and either recommends a candidate for further training and decides not to recommend a candidate being un-fit for military training. The results are communicated to respective services headquarters that make the final merit list and thus a fresh batch of cadets reports to their academics at time and date set by respective headquarters.

Psychological Test

These test include intelligence and personality tests and held on the morning of 1st day.

Intelligence Tests

There are 2 main type, Verbal And Non verbal, Candidates who fail to come up to minimum standers are screened out. They are allowed to proceed back to their homes after the test on the 1st day. But Now a days the Screened out System is currently not active.

Mechanical Aptitude Test

It is designed to access to candidates basic mechanical sense.
Personality Tests
There Are written test of analytical/ Projective  type. Responses provide indication.

GTO's Tasks

Group Tests

In group tests candidates are put through a a number of a standardized situations to find out the degree of officer like qualities in a candidate. I.e Team spirit,initiative,resourcefulness etc, and whether the candidate's personality fits him for a practical role that and officer has to plasy in the defence forces. For these tests the candidates are divided in the groups.The Test includes:-

Group Discussion

Informal discussions are conducted in a group on given subjects.
Group Planing
A group plan for a given problem on the model is to be involved. 

Group Tasks

Three group tasks are conducted in which candidates  are presented practical situations and left to solve these normally, these comprise obstacles over which the group is required to carry objects of sufficient bulk weight.

Command Task

Each candidate is in turn appointed the commander of the group and given a practical task requiring several men.

Individual Obstacles

Simple Obstacles which the candidate is required to tackle.

Interviews

Interviewer accesses the candidates in an informal and objective manner. The Questions would mainly pertain to the candidate's life,academics, and general aspects requiring the candidates views.

Medical Examination

All the candidates selected by the ISSB are required to undergo a thorough medical examination at a selected medical board of Establishment. The final merit list will contain only those names who after selection by ISSB Have been declared be medically fit.

Merit List

The Marks obtained by each candidate at respective selection centers and at the issb added together in the end and a merit list is prepared on the basis of total marks secured by each candidate.Final Selection and call up for training are made from this merit list, according to the order of merit, depending on the number of vacancies available. The aim of candidate should therefore be not only get selected at ISSB but also obtain the maximum possible number of marks, so that he may find a high position in the merit list. 

Pilot Aptitude Test

Only For PAF GDP Course
PAF information and selection center  Rwalpindi administers test or the GD Pilot course Only.
Certain number of the marks are allotted for the aptitude tests and marks obtained by each candidates are taken into account while his final results are determined at the conference.

Selection Process In Defence Forces,

There is 2 Basic Processes For Selection Initial & ISSB Tests.

Preliminary Selection/Initial Selection

Date of initial test are advertised by the Force Headquarters through the national news paper.

The candidates are required to appear personally at the selection and recruitment centers in various important cities. The information may be produced from your respective recruitment center of your city. Candidates must be report at the selection center with the require documents.
There is 8 Steps Of Initial Test.

1: Checking Basic Documents

A Officer at the selection center will check your basic documents And after that he will give you a blue slip. For The test.

2: Intelligence Test

i) Verbal Test
ii) Non verbal Test
In this test there is 90 to 96 Question will be asked for each, Verbal and Non Verbal. With in the time of 30-40 minutes.

3: Academic Test

Candidate are given an academic test to solve specific time. The test includes questions based on academic subjects or General Knowledge.

4: Filling The Forms

Successful candidates are given forms to complete and submit at the selection center office. Candidates may be given a day or two to complete the forms, which include a character certificate by school/college headmaster/principal or by OC unit(for service personnel).

5: Medical Test

Candidates go through a medical check-up, in which hight, chest, weight, and eyes-sight may be checked.

6: Physical test

Candidates must be passed in physical test. which includes Running about 1.5 km/8 minutes, 15 dips,sit ups repeats/2 minutes and 2 chin ups/2 minutes. 

7: Interview

Candidates are briefly interviewed. Question about family background and general knowledge are asked.

8: Result

Result is announced immediately after tests.

ROAD MAP TO INDUCTION AS AN OFFICER

Intro:

Candidates from all over the country are invited for the time and being to join defence Forces as Commissioned officer in the respective forces. I.e
i)Pakistan Army

Selection Process.

Grant Of Commission

Those who successfully completed their training are given commission in respective forces.
Promotion
Promotion in defence forces is not automatic. The officer go through the certain training courses and have to pass promotion exams, the prestigious example of one is to enter in staff college.

Eligible personals of defence forces awarded with certain military awards & honours,

Those who sacrifice in war or crisis are granted with the highest civil and military award. "For Example Nishan E Haider".       

Prepare Yourself For ISSB Tests.

Step 1 Before Going To ISSB

i) If you are waiting for your call letter from the ISSB and start your preparation after receiving it, you may have not enough time at your disposal to cover all the subjects.
ii)Therefore it is advisable that you should start your study from today.
iii)You must through your physical training, but beware to avoid injury before going to ISSB.
iv)As soon as you get the call letter go through the instruction contained in it.
v)Before your departure to ISSB, make sure you get your photographs taken and make out a list of items that you would be taking with you to ISSB.
vi)Have your clothes properly tailored, washed and pressed, don't take colorful sets of clothes with you.
vii)Prepare your documents in advance as required by ISSB.

Step 2 At ISSB.

i) Don't Land At ISSB in soiled and dirt clothes. Don't keep your hands in your pockets.
ii)Pay full attention to whatever is said at the inaugural address.
iii)Never pay visits at prohibited areas.

Fill in your personal questionnaire from the neatly and don't deviate from the truthful facts.
Taking Intelligent Test.
Remain calm and collected when you do your intelligence test.
Answering WAT & TAT.
Show co-operative and healthy trends when you answer the questions On WAT & TAT Etc..
Doing self dicription test.
Portary yourself as a balanced individual while doing the self discription test.
Doing Group Discussion.
Don't remain back bencher during the group discussion . Don't create too much noise either. 1st thinh what you are going to say and then say it with confidence and clarity. Don't try to monopolise. Note The points for the suitable places. Speak clearly eagerly and with enthusiasm.
Doing Group Planing.
During group planing submerge your own self into the problem concentrate hard and put up correct suggestions. Don't b obstructionist if the majority does ot agree with your plan, You then co-operate and agree with the rest. When individual comments are sought don't just weffle but put in some useful clue.
Attempting GTO's Out Door Task.
Doing the group task maintain the same co-operative attitude. Don't be affraid to tak the normal risks Be very agile, active and smart your plan should be practical and constructive and give it out with confidence.
When you have been given command task make proper selection from your group.
Think clearly how exactly you are going to convey yourself and the materials across the obstacle. Plan with speed and don't have examination fever  give the instruction to the boys under your command in a clear , controlled and firm voice.
When negotiating the individual obstacle don't hesitate and don't have panic. Think you are going to do it and you will do it.
Facing The Interview.
Be properly dressed when you go foe the interview. If you are wearing the working dress, smarten itt up as it possible. Don't present gloomy and sullen appearance if you have not fared very well the earlier tests.
Be honest and truthful during your converstion with the interviewing officer. Don't get involved in arguments.
Be precise in your answers and maintain a friendly dignified conversational tone,
